KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – 28 June 2023 – Clean energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari), via its affiliate Gentari Renewables Sdn Bhd (formerly known as PETRONAS Power Sdn Bhd), has entered into a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with TotalEnergies EP Asia Pacific Pte Ltd as part of decarbonisation efforts for assets with shared interest between their respective parent companies within Asia Pacific region. The signing ceremony was held on the sidelines of the Energy Asia conference – an event that brings together energy professionals, industry captains and policymakers to advance Asia’s Net-Zero Ambitions through actionable solutions for a just and responsible energy transition.

Gentari was represented by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sushil Purohit, while TotalEnergies was represented by Julien Pouget, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific for Exploration & Production and Renewables with Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Gentari Chairman as well as PETRONAS President and Group CEO, and Patrick Pouyanné, TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO, gracing the ceremony as witnesses.

To demonstrate prompt tangible progress on this SCA, Gentari via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gentari Renewables Australia Pty Ltd, and TotalEnergies EP Australia will together develop the 100 MW Pleasant Hills Solar Project near Roma in Queensland. Pleasant Hills Solar Project is a solar development to supply electricity to Gladstone LNG’s gas processing facility. This is the first of several Gladstone LNG assets identified for decarbonisation as part of its Emissions Reduction Roadmap. Currently, Gentari’s parent company PETRONAS and TotalEnergies each indirectly hold an equal 27.5% stake in the Gladstone LNG project.

“To achieve our joint decarbonisation goals, it is critical to harness all our capabilities, capacity and resources efficiently. This includes optimising our existing partnerships and working to decarbonise our own business entities. Gentari’s latest partnership with TotalEnergies therefore, will provide a new momentum in our net-zero efforts, and to build the right ecosystem for growth in clean energy and net zero solutions,” commented Sushil Purohit, CEO of Gentari.

“We are pleased to join forces with our long-standing partner PETRONAS, through Gentari, to decarbonize our joint assets in Asia Pacific leveraging on our respective strengths: through this Strategic Collaboration Agreement, we are paving the way for very concrete action plans ranging from implementing best practices to eliminate methane emissions, to energy efficiency and electrification with low carbon power”, commented Julien Pouget, Senior Vice President Asia Pacific for Exploration & Production and Renewables at TotalEnergies. “The 100 MW Pleasant Hills Solar Project, which will contribute to lowering the emissions of Gladstone LNG, is a first material implementation of this agreement.”
