Business-Led Collaboration: Building Asia’s Clean Energy Future

Published 28 October 2025

At Gentari, we believe the energy transition is not an abstract ambition. It is a lived reality that demands pragmatism, purpose and partnerships. As our CEO, Sushil Purohit, often emphasises, Asia’s clean energy journey will define the world’s energy future. The Asia Pacific region already accounts for nearly half of global energy demand and close to 60% of carbon emissions - meaning the choices made here will shape outcomes everywhere.

Balancing innovation with reality

Clean energy is not just about chasing the “next big thing.” It is about creating solutions that work - for today and for tomorrow. At Gentari, we balance ambition with discipline, innovating for the future while ensuring our customers and communities can depend on us right now.

This is why we design our renewable, hydrogen, and green mobility solutions with the customer in mind. Reliability, affordability and trust matter, just as much as cutting-edge technology.

Beyond gigawatts and measuring what truly matters

Scaling clean energy must go beyond capacity growth; it is about shaping solutions that are bankable, resilient and make a lasting impact.

  • The challenge - in a market where investors expect returns comparable to traditional energy projects, we must be sharper in how we structure deals, stronger in managing risks and bolder in developing innovative business models.

  • The opportunity - our credibility and execution capability give us the confidence to pursue multi-gigawatt renewables, hydrogen export hubs and cross-border energy corridors such as in Project VMS (Vietnam–Malaysia–Singapore).

  • What sets us apart - our decisions are shaped not only by growth targets, but also by energy security considerations, national priorities and long-term shareholder value.

For Gentari, success is not measured only in gigawatts but in gigavalue – with partnerships that last, growth that endures and outcomes that make a tangible difference for people, planet and prosperity.

Asia is the epicentre of the energy transition

Despite being the engine of global growth, Southeast Asia captured only 2% of global clean energy investment in 2024. To stay on track for net zero, the region needs to mobilise USD 130 billion annually by 2030 - more than double current levels (IEA, 2024). Without acceleration, universal energy access and climate goals remain out of reach.

Momentum, however, is building. Governments are enacting enabling policies, investor confidence is rising and cross-border integration is taking shape.

Gentari is playing its part - whether through renewables, hydrogen or green mobility - by demonstrating that Asia can accelerate its progress toward a cleaner energy future.

Decarbonisation-as-a-Service: a scalable model

One way forward is Decarbonisation-as-a-Service (DaaS). Gentari’s integrated model across renewable energy, hydrogen, and mobility. Instead of piecing together multiple providers, customers can access a one-stop ecosystem with bundled solutions, financing and advisory support.

Just as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) transformed the IT landscape, the Decarbonisation-as-a-Service (DaaS) model has the potential to transform energy. It reduces upfront risks for customers, aggregates demand and delivers scale at lower cost. For businesses under pressure to meet net zero commitments, this model offers speed, certainty and flexibility.

Strategic partnerships unlock growth

The energy transition is too large a feat for any single company. Collaboration must be the default. From Vietnam’s 470 GW offshore wind potential to Singapore’s plan to import 6 GW of low-carbon electricity by 2035, regional integration is no longer optional.

Gentari is already proving this through projects like:

  • Project VMS: developing renewable energy flows between Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

  • Gamuda partnership: 1.5 GW solar and storage for hyperscale data centres in Malaysia.

  • AM Green collaboration: powering India’s green ammonia ambitions with 650 MW of round-the-clock renewables.

These alliances show how technology, capital and policy can align to deliver cleaner, more secure energy for Asia.

Purpose beyond profit

Ultimately, the energy transition is personal. For Sushil, it is about the world we leave to the next generation - a vision crystallised when his young daughter once said she hoped for “a better climate, less pollution, and no wars.”

That clarity continues to inspire Gentari’s mission: to deliver solutions that are sustainable, inclusive and secure. With a cumulative installed and under construction renewables capacity of 8.4 GW as of June 2025, a maturing hydrogen portfolio and a robust EV charging network, we are moving from ambition to action.

The journey is only just beginning. By 2030, Gentari’s ambition is to be Asia Pacific’s most valued clean energy solutions partner; measured not in quarterly returns, but in the difference we make for people, planet and prosperity.
