KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – 15 December 2023
– Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the clean
energy solutions provider Gentari Sdn Bhd, has been awarded as the
Most Promising Charging Point Operator (CPO), at the Car of the
Year (COTY) 2023 event. This accolade acknowledges
Gentari’s significant contribution to the expansion of the
electric vehicle (EV) and charging points ecosystem in the
country, throughout 2023.
Shah Yang Razalli, the Deputy
CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd expressed
gratitude, stating, “We are deeply honoured to receive this
award. It serves as a validation of our commitment to support the
growth of the electric mobility ecosystem in Malaysia, in the
country’s energy transition journey. The achievements in
our first full year of operations were made possible by our
customers, stakeholders, partners and our hardworking team, as we
realise our vision of Gentari becoming Asia Pacific’s most
valued clean energy solutions partner by 2030. We have big
ambitions to make the sustainable shift towards electric mobility
easy for everyone, and this recognition will fuel our
determination to raise the bar further.”
Broad partnerships to drive quicker growth.
Gentari currently operates the
largest direct current (DC) charging network in Malaysia, with
close to 80 DC charging points (CP) from a total of more than 260
CPs. To improve convenience and peace of mind for EV drivers,
Gentari has also expanded its CP network reach via a roaming
partnership with EV Connection Sdn Bhd (EVC) and Green EV Charge
Sdn Bhd (GEV), a subsidiary of Yinson GreenTech (YGT).
The
partnership enables cross access to charging points on the
Gentari, JomCharge and chargEV networks, and cross tracking via
the Setel, JomCharge and chargEV mobile apps respectively. Via the
roaming network, EV users have convenient access to a combined
total of more than 700 charging points across Malaysia including
in East Malaysia, equivalent to approximately 60% of EV charging
points in the country.
“Over the past eighteen
months since June 2022, Gentari has maintained unwavering momentum
in advancing electric vehicle (EV) adoption and driving a
sustainable transition towards electric mobility. Recognising that
the shift to green mobility requires collaboration with
like-minded partners, we have actively engaged in strategic
collaborations with a broad range of industry stakeholders to
expand our charging point network,” Shah added.
To
date, Gentari has collaborated with automotive players such as
BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Sime Darby Motors, utilities such as TNB
and Sarawak Energy and conglomerates such as the Sunway Group,
PLUS Malaysia Berhad, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) and
JCorp among many others, to continue expanding EV charging
infrastructure. Gentari is also committed to supporting
Malaysia’s national goals in expanding the adoption of
sustainable transportation, including the Government’s aim
to install 10,000 CPs nationwide by 2025.
